Banh Mi Pop-up in Shanghai – Tomorrow Only!

We know, we know. Banh Mi is Vietnamese, but anyone who has eaten (read: gorged) themselves on the French-inspired sandwich (packed with pate, terrine, sausage, head cheese, pork neck and just about every other porcine-inspired ingredient, plus (!) pickled veg, cilantro and jalapenos) can attest, it’s the best damn sandwich in the world. So we thought we’d let you in on this litte secret.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Banh Mi being added to the Oxford dictionary! So to celebrate, some of Shanghai’s more pig-happy chef have gotten together to make the best banh mi in town, for one day and one day only. Humble Meat’s Marc Johnson (formerly of Fulton Place), Madison’s Austin Hu and The Grumpy Pig’s Vinh Nguyen will be serving up banh mi with spiked limeade from 1pm while supplies at Madison. The ‘supplies’ are capped at 80 so get in early. My money is on them selling out by 1:30pm.

See you there.
