We’re Hiring – Operations Manager & Guide Positions Available!

OPERATIONS MANAGER (FULL-TIME)

WHO WE ARE

A top-rated walking culinary tour company. We cater to tourists and expats who want to know more about authentic local foods and neighborhoods. Over the last six and a half years, we’ve taken thousands of guests on eating adventures in China, with extremely positive feedback and many guests reporting back that it was the highlight of their time in China.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Having experienced all of our culinary offerings, including possibly training to pitch in as a food guide, you’ll handle day-to-day operations and business development. No two days are the same, and you’ll be handling a mix of online and face-to-face duties with customers, potential clients and our employees on the ground. This is a full time position, but you’ll have some leeway to hold a flexible schedule.

As Operations Manager, your admin duties will mostly consist of customer and guide relations via email & wechat and the occasional phone call. The position can grow with the right candidate as business development duties will allow you to grow your duties and your salary to your full potential, with commissions offered.

REQUIREMENTS

You are a fully fluent English speaker that has lived in Shanghai or Beijing for at least 18 months with a passion for the local food scene and for delivering excellent customer service. The position is full time, but leaves flexibility for someone with other minimal outside commitments during the day. Mandarin language skills are required.

Extensive training will be provided, but the ideal candidate will be a very organized, detail oriented, outgoing people-person, ideally with previous experience in hospitality and a knowledge and curiosity about the local food scene. Candidates should also be self-motivated problem solvers for prospecting and client development with plans to stay in China for the long term.

Please submit your application via this google questionnaire (VPN required), then email us your CV, cover letter and references to info@untourfoodtours.com.

FOOD TOUR GUIDES (Part-Time)

Want to get paid to eat? A growing food tour company is looking for outgoing, passionate tour guides available on a part time/freelance basis in Beijing & Shanghai.

Who we are: A top-rated walking culinary tour company. We cater to tourists and expats who want to know more about authentic local foods and neighborhoods. Over the last six and a half years, we’ve taken thousands of guests on eating adventures in China, with extremely positive feedback and many guests reporting back that it was the highlight of their time in China.

What we do: Guided, informal, three hour walking tours showcasing the city’s tastiest, most authentic eats and more. We will never carry a flag, and only do small, intimate groups. Each tour has 4-6 tasting stops in local neighborhood food stalls and holes in the wall that are popular with locals but intimidating for some outsiders. Guides don’t have scripts to memorize; rather they should feel comfortable sharing their knowledge of the city (with plenty of training materials provided), Chinese culture, food & life in engaging, natural conversation.

Who you are: A fluent English speaker with a flexible schedule (mornings and evenings is most desired) and an easy-going friendly personality. Must speak proficient Chinese, have an advanced food knowledge (a willingness to eat everything and enthusiasm about food is a must), and have lived in China for 18+ months (at least 12 of which were in Beijing). We need guides with availability from anywhere between 3 and 15 hours per week, to start. Additional European languages a plus, but only Mandarin Chinese and native (or near native) English are firm requirements.

Remuneration is competitive, and good guides often receive tips and bonuses in addition to their wages.

To apply, please send your resume to info@untourfoodtours.com, then fill out the linked Google form for the city you live in (Beijing) (Shanghai) (VPN required) with further information.
